Do you need a Website?

If you are in any kind of public organization or business, the answer is probably "yes". The reasons one might need a website are as diverse as the different types of organizations that exist. One thing is for sure, if you have a sign on your door, a website is an important part of your future.

What is a Website?

It is a location in cyberspace that your customer can visit with his or her computer to find out information about your business or operation. It is a destination that other industry oriented websites can list to drive business to you.  If you do widgets, a website that lists widget businesses will list your business and your website is just a "click" away from a potential customer.  It is a favor to those who need to do business with you.
  • Where are you?
  • When are you open?
  • What kind of business do you do?
It says "I care about my business and my customers. Here I am and this is what I do!"

Is a Website more than Advertising?

A well done Website, whether it be a little business-card site or an elaborate store-front website or something in between indicates that the business is a serious endeavor. If your website has a bit of wit or humor or things that change over time, all the better. People will come back.

Remember, over 60% of households in the U.S. now connect to the internet and the number is growing daily!! Many others connect at work. Make it easy for them to find you and/or send you an email. Your customers, business partners and friends will appreciate it.

There are many advantages to participating in the community of the web. Join in and you will be a part of it.

Your ISP offered you a free website -- why should you use the Website Center?

The Website Center is a website development company -- not a hosting service although we are partnered with several excellent hosting companies. This means that we are flexible to work with your ISP if they offer "free" website space. We can put together a good little website for your "free" space.   There are reasons why "free" is not really a good idea and we can explain that.  Whether you have an Internet Service Provider (ISP) and email accounts and hosting services available already or wish the Website Center to arrange for them, we can help you get the best deal. Later we can help you expand your site.

How can you get started?

What is the general process?

1. We meet with you: A short meeting where you explain what you need and we sketch out some ideas.
  • you have some art you would like to include, we'll take it for scanning.
  • you need some graphic support, we'll explore options.
  • we'll discuss general cost options and expectations.
2. Then we go away to prepare some materials for you to look at. If you wish, the Website Center will research your domain name and will register it.

3.  We may create one or more "sample" website(s) for you to look at on the web from the comfort of your office.  Telephone discussions or, if necessary, face-to-face meetings narrow your preferences.    If you need a more complex site, several iterations and  consultations might be necessary.

4. The website is up and live!

Can we tweak this? Change that?

You bet. Like most things humans build, websites need to be adjusted and worked on after they are opened. The website center understands this and fully expects its clients to be pleased with their web presence.

Who really owns my Website?

You do!  You own the domain name and all the passwords.  Your Website is an important business asset and should be treated like one.
